ABOUT US -

We are ordinary people from all walks of life, who seek to be Christians only, nothing more, less or anything else, who meet together as a congregation of Christ. As human beings, there is nothing special about us; but we believe we have found something special - each of us have Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, and the reason for us gathering together is to worship God, praise Jesus Christ and encourage one another to continue to follow Christ's teachings

We believe that Jesus Christ is deity - God, as is the Holy Spirit and God the Father, that all three are God in One, eternal and without beginning, but with different personalities being a Trinity or Triunity

Salvation for all mankind is found only in Christ through hearing, repentance,  confessing, and baptism (immersion) into Christ (Rom 10:17, Jon 8:24, Luke 13:3,5, Mat 10:32-33, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Gal 3:26,27) 

We do not baptise (Christen) babies, as infants are not born in sin (original sin) and are in a saved condition. An un-baptised child who dies will not spent eternity suffering in Hell, but will go immediately to Heaven. We wait until a child has faith and then requests baptism, just like the very first Christians who we read about in the Bible

We are part of a worldwide fellowship of independent congregations, that have existed for hundreds of years. In origin we are not English, American or have any other origin other than being based only on scripture being Bible based. We have no headquarters outside the local congregation and are not bound by some creed or organisation other than scripture

We seek simply to study and practice the only word of God, the Bible

We are not bound by denominational ties, traditions, doctrines, or organizations and are not a denomination being non-denominational

We have no creeds or confessions of faith; the Bible alone is our source of faith (Romans 10:17)

We strive to practice simple New Testament Christianity without addition, our desire to be the church that Christ built (Matthew 16:18) - the church of Christ (Romans 16:16)

Our identity - "the church of Christ" taken from Romans 16:16. The word church simply means the elect of God, those called out of the world. It does not refer to a building or organisation. We are not associated with many other groups who use a similar name such as the International Churches of Christ

Congregations worshipping and teaching as we do today have existed in England since the Norman conquest (1066), certainly even earlier. But what is even more important is the fact that such congregations date from the time of the New Testament, for the first church of Christ was established by Christ Himself, through His apostles, in Jerusalem about the year AD. 30. That church is described in the scriptures. We read about the names it wore, the message it preached, its worship and the way it was governed. In short, in the New Testament we are given a pattern for the true church, and all who are following that pattern faithfully are members of the church of Christ and children of God whether they are known to us or not. Indeed we often receive news of the existence of such groups in parts of the world where we did not know they existed. Yet their existence does not surprise us, because the Word of God is like seed which produces the true church wherever it is sown

Our worship is distinctive as we don't use instrumental music. We do believe in music. The New Testament tells us that worship music under Christ is congregational singing with one another in praise to God (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)

We partake of the Lord's Supper every first day of the week as the Bible teaches (Acts 20:7), not monthly, quarterly or yearly!

Our preaching is also distinctive. We seek to "speak as the oracles of God" (1 Peter 4:11), so you will hear scripture quotations in the lesson

We give as we are prospered (1 Corinthians 16:1,2). We pray to the Father through the Son (Colossians 3:17). Our worship is not frilly, worldly or glamorous, but it is what God expects of us - to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24)

Just like the church of the bible we have no clergy, all Christians are equal in Christ, all Christians are priests and saints, though some have different roles and responsibilities, all are servants of Christ

Our mission is two fold, to assist each other to get to Heaven and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others with the hope of eternal life

Mission Guatemala:

Anthony is now back from Guatemala, South America, having left the congregations he works with in the jungle and mountain areas. Please keep Anthony in your prayers.  We are sending materials in Spanish and helping with finances, so local men can be taught to preach and evangelise

Over 110 children now meet at the Sunday School at San Juan Moca. Along with the church at Mildenhall, £2000 has been sent recently to help fund the work. Other churches in the USA are sending materials and other help

We have an active and enthusiastic  Sunday School, for children of all ages, run by Sarah
Sisman
